The project


National Bank of Canada ESG Report.

The challenge


Each year, NBC publishes its ESG report in PDF format on its website. The annual all-digital update of this sizable report must meet NBC’s own ESG standards.

  • Content needs to be re-evaluated and simplified to ensure an optimal user experience, using interactive features such as buttons and a dynamic table of contents to facilitate navigation.
  • The data is delivered in sections (20 in total) at different times, adding a level of difficulty.
  • English is supplied before the French is approved, with a 30-day deadline that cannot be extended.

We must stay very agile, as it’s like working on 30 projects all at once, each with its own deadlines, to meet the same final deadline for the report.

The approach


Skillfully orchestrated by a production manager, the project was entrusted to our designers and specialists, masters in the art of making complex data comprehensible and appealing.

  • Our designers created illustrations and icons to support the various concepts and energize the presentation of data for the purposes of this digital approach, all in line with NBC’s graphic standards. These illustrations both support the content of the text and visually convey the concepts.
  • The creation of complex tables, containing a substantial amount of data, made the information appealing and accessible.
  • Content restructuring and the addition of an interactive table of contents also added to the browsing experience.
  • The work was carried out with great agility to ensure that each section was delivered in time and that the document’s final deadline was met.

The result


  • A 100-page report produced in both French and English.

  • That’s 200 pages of content created in 30 days.

During this project, m&h demonstrated its ability to carry out a large-scale project within very tight deadlines, delivering high-quality results. Leveraging our in-depth knowledge of the brand, our designers were able to create a variety of visuals in record time, ensuring consistency with established standards.
